Pastoral Training, Local Church Leadership Training, and Personal Spiritual Growth
The Second Mile (TSM) Inc. is, at its heart, a disciple-making ministry. As such, it provides an intentional means of growth for every Christian from the average person in the pew on a Sunday morning who simply wants to know the Bible better, through to those who are seeking to respond to the call of God to train for ministry, whether fulltime or part-time.
TSM has grown out of a desire to see people trained and equipped for ministry. For far too long people of all ages have sensed the call of God on their life to minister in some form and yet have not known which way to go after that. TSM provides a solid grounding in biblical truth which is the foundation for any ministry but it is also much more than that. The Scriptures have been given to us so that we might serve God and one another.
As a student of The Second Mile, you are embarking on a journey that will leave you changed forever. The Bible clearly tells us that God’s expectation on us as Christians is to grow and develop in our faith, maturing in Christlikeness. The Second Mile (TSM) is not the only way that happens but through your study with TSM you will have an opportunity through in class and practical ministry experience to be equipped to serve wherever God may lead you in the future.
Most modules studied through TSM are completed in a face-to-face classroom setting, however, a number of modules can also be studied in your own home and in your own time supplemented with tutorials or SKYPE meetings with the lecturer.
Some classes are held weekly or fortnightly, but increasingly we have found the need to offer 4-5 day Intensives to meet the time schedules of students who often have to find employment to support their study. It is expected that full-time TSM students would need to set aside about 15-20 hours per week to satisfy course requirements.
At this present time, TSM offers students the opportunity to study a nationally accredited Certificate IV in Christian Ministry (10433NAT) and Theology and a Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology (10434NAT).
These courses are delivered in partnership with The Training Collaborative (RTO Provider No. 30002) since the beginning and in 2012 began an annexe of TSM at Yeppoon where students could meet in a classroom situation and study via video link and/or in face to face classes.
Students who have studied through TSM, have in the past pursued further study through other nationally recognised theological institutions including Kingsley Australia.
