People Protection & Risk Management

Jazmine McClintock

Thank you for taking the time to care for people. This short course is to support you as you love and serve in the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Yeppoon and our campuses, to ensure that you know how to best protect those entrusted in your care, what processes and procedures are in place to protect yourself and others and to give glory to God – because we know that when we genuinly love and care for people out of our love for God, it points people to Him and HE get’s the glory.

Purpose

This strategy is focused on the enhancement of the safety and protection of children and young people participating in the activities of our church fulfilling The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 (Qld) requirement to develop an annual risk management strategy.

However, in implementing this goal, the safety of all people involved in our activities is also promoted. Therefore, some processes should be applied to all activities for people of all ages.

The aim of our People Protection and Risk Management Strategy is

  • To prevent foreseeable harm to all participants of church activities with a focus on children and young people.
  • To ensure that all volunteers who work within the church are assessed for their suitability to work with children under the Child Safe Standards.
  • To ensure that all people involved with the operations of the church are aware of their responsibilities in relation to the above.

Scope

This policy applies to all volunteers, church activity leaders, church employees, Local Board of Administration (LBA), congregational members, RI Instructors attending our church, parents, guardians, visitors – everyone involved in Yeppoon Wesleyan Methodist church activities as a leader, helper or participant.

If you are doing this course, it means you have taken the step to serve and volunteer as part of the Yeppoon Wesleyan Methodist Church or campuses, and so this strategy/document/course is specifically for you. Thank you for taking the time to join us as we do our best to care for all people.
